About Us

NA: A Worldwide Organization

Narcotics Anonymous is an international, community-based association of recovering addicts, offering peer support to other addicts who are seeking recovery and a new way of life. We strive to cooperate with professionals, such as therapeutic communities and other organizations with similar goals. NA is one of the world’s oldest and largest associations of recovering drug addicts, and our approach to recovery from drug addiction is completely non-professional, relying on peer support. We believe the NA program works as well as it does predominantly because of the therapeutic value of addicts helping other addicts. It is an ideal, aftercare support network for clients who wish to pursue and maintain a drug free outcome, no matter where in the world they live.

Prince Edward Island Area

The first Narcotics Anonymous meeting on Prince Edward Island was held in 1984 in
Charlottetown and spread to other Island communities, including, but not limited to, Summerside and Montague. Over the years, meetings have also branched out to locations such as Souris, Tignish, Alberton, Crapaud, Cornwall and O’Leary. In the early 1990’s, NA groups on PEI joined together to create the Prince Edward Island Area Service Committee, providing services for our members and local communities.
